Short OrderShort Order (2005)

IMDB rating: 6.90

Plot: SHORT ORDER tells a story so vibrantly sumptuous each still could be served as its own meal. Amidst the quaint Parisian street night, Fifi Koko runs a petty short order diner. Although her name is famous in chef circles she has placed her uncanny culinary skills on the back burner as she falls prey to an existential quagmire that fears her talent shall not overcome the expectations her reputation has sown. The late hours play out as Fifi must face her talent and unrequited love for a friend, while a collective stream of colorful creatures of the night make through Fifi’s consciousness to feed her with temptation, insight, and humor on the path of her life-defining decision.

court system served an injustice?
I need legal advice. My husband and I have been trying for years to gain custody of his 16 yr old daughter for YEARS, unsuccessfully. But we weren’t just trying for no reason. Her mother has been on drugs throughout her entire life, repeatedly neglecting and abandoning her children. This is a fact undisputed by everyone. 6 months ago she left and had been gone over 2 days, not answering her cell with pleas from her 15 yr old and 13 yr old to return home to tend to her 2 month old baby bacause it had been crying all night and day. I went to get out child and the other 2 went to their aunt’s house. She didn’t even return home or know they were even gone for 2 more days. Our child went to my father-in-law temporarily until my husband and i took hair folicle tests and parenting classes, which we passed. That was only bacause the mother, evidently, lies better than we tell the truth. She was taken from her mother. There was to be a hearing this past tuesday to review the drug tests, but sometime monday someone decided this was to be our custody hearing as well. Now we’ve paid a lawyer already to handle the custody hearing but he couldn’t make it on that short of notice. But really and trully, we were never even notified about the change and informed that my husband even needed to be there. AT ALL. We heard about it thru hear-say. So tuesday morning our attorney got a continuation approved by the judge until december. The info was even faxed to his office. Well the next day they held custody court anyway, the judge reportedly saying, "I over-rule the lawyers." Nobody notified us of this hearing either that took place on wednesday. So, of course, we weren’t there and so the judge stated we were in contempt of court, says we cannot even have contact with our daughter, gave her back to her mom (which wasn’t supposed to even be possible since we’ve been thru this very same thing with her for YEARS), and ordered we take MORE hair folicle tests just to be able to attain visitation at all one day. Is this right that we can be ambushed this way? Do we not have the right to council to be there? shouldn’t we have at least been notified of the hearings to be expected to be there and even if we were notified in some legitimate way, do we not get to have our lawyer there, like everyone else? And how can the judge go from continuing a hearing for a month, to deciding to hold the custody hearing the very next day without even giving a phone call to tell us or anything, and hold us in contempt cuz we weren’t there? I want to sue the court system, the judge, or somebody over this because now before it all gets straightened out our daughter will be 18 and went thru, God only knows, what all kind of neglect and abuse in that time. someone help me

In 35 years in the justice system , the only people that I have even heard about having court ordered "follicle tests" had been previously convicted drug offenders.

All of this should be handled by your attorney. If he wasn’t in court , why was he not "punished"?
Much of what you wrote doesn’t make any sense.
If, given the benefit of the doubt, you and your attorney should file a complaint with the state judicary board or committtee.
