The confirmation committee chairman (Gary Oldman), a Republican, leaks the information to the press, while using the press discussion as a forum to bring it into the hearings. What do UKIP need to do to become serious contenders for government?
This is my own opinion, but I see them as not much more than Labour but without paying Europe to rule us.
What, in your opinion, would UKIP need to do to become serious contenders, or do you think they already are?
I think the general public see UKIP as an Anti EU party and nothing else. To become more electable, they need to demonstrate that there is more to them than that.
They also need to show that they are trustworthy, electable and will be able to deal with power.
In this regard, they are similar to the BNP and Greens insofar as they are a small party, best known for a single issue, looking for a way to expand their base.

They could be if they form actual policies. I have searched their website and other than withdrawing from Europe and freezing immigration they say very, very little. About anything. Either they don’t know what their policies are or they do not want us to know. Either way, they’re not going to get my vote that way. Going onto the Conservatives it’s not always exact what they’re planning but they have documents and give you a vague idea of where they stand. Not that I’d vote for them either.

We are gaining more support year on year, and we will become the biggest issue, but not yet! We will not win the general election of course, but the European issues that we champion will not go away whilst Clown and Cameruin refuse to do anything about it. If the lib/lab/con Pro-Euro alliance take themselves seriously, then UKIP are serious contenders also because stats suggest that at least 6 out of 10 in the UK want OUT from Europe, and UKIP are peoples only real hope of getting a referendum on it (apart from the BNP). L@@K at John Bercow (Speaker of the House of Commons) and tell me if he will ’seriously’ win in the general election against Nigel Fararge (who is standing against him). Bercow is utterly detested as a scheming expenses fiddling prat frightened of his own shaddow, but Farage is highly respected, tough and hard, who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks. Well, I could be wrong, but I think Bercow is going to lose his seat. He’s also not the only lib/lab/con that’s lost all credibility and is going to bite the dust. I’m not saying that UKIP are going to storm the House of Parliament either this May and I think we’ll be lucky if we get 2 or 3 seats, but people are sick and tired of the same old politics in this country, and the fact that UKIP came 2nd last June in the Europe Elections means that UKIP do mean serious business – whether it’s 1st past the post OR NOT. 2.5 million people still thought that we were serious contenders, and it was only 7 months ago. Take a look at the results for yourself.

Honest genuine people to represent it. More of Labour, Tory, and Lib Dem lies, deceit, and dishonesty. Mind the 3 main parties are at present doing all they can to help UKIP just by being the way they are. Carry on I say to them as it gives the people a chance to have representation in government if they are all kicked out at the next general election.

UKIP need to gain many more votes to become serious contenders for Government.

UKIP are the far right torries who are angry that the old party have moved more to the centre.
They are as far removed from Labour as you are from reality

The only thing that stops UKIP replacing the Tories for good is the fact people are scared of splitting the vote . All right minded people want Labour out and unfortunately in most cases that means voting Tory . If we had a system which meant voting for what you actually wanted ( instead of against what you don’t ) wasn’t in most cases a wasted vote , I predict that UKIP would take at least 60% of the Tories votes .

They cannot be serious contenders for government. Their very name is idiotic and hysterical. They are a one-issue party and they are unrealistic and stupid about their one issue. They are just ignorant little englanders.

Get a higher profile by getting some Labour MP’s to defect, get more air time and state they will cure the immigration problems within their first term.

UKIP need to realise that if we are going to get out of europe then we are going to suffer a backlash in terms of our trade and industry.
EU law has now become enshrined in UK law and whilst I would love to remove most of it, I do not see how we can.
UKIP do have some excellent view points and at least have not been afraid to say what they think. One of the reasons they have gained popularity is that Farrage, for all his faults, does shoot from the hip and this is most refreshing after 40 years of unclear and sometimes downright dishonest statements from both the Tories and Labour.
I think that in the next 10 years, there will be a significant change in the face of British Politics, a degree of success by UKIP will show people that there is more to life than Tory and Labour.
I predict that UKIP will grow significantly, however they will be overtaken by another new party which launches in 2014, is less extreme about europe but will get us a better deal, it has very similar immigration policies and is not afraid to be heard. BSDP for me in 2014

UKIP is a bloody good little party. At least it stands for the preservation of Britain’s Independence and freedom to govern its self. Why are the British people so afraid of change? The lab con lib combination has screwed this country for generations. Parliament has become a toilet. Its arrogance is destroying democracy…..It has become a laughing stock on the world stage……Britain needs to remove this tired corrupt old establishment nightmare combination. Parliament is selling the country from under us. Flooding the country to the point of total dependency. for the sake of our children’s future we have to put an end to it. World trade is all about trading fairly together, not putting the entire population of the world in bloody Europe and using them as a huge consumer base. Who the helI wants that? We are allowing these Bastards to wreck our world. Frankly Britain needs to stand as an example to Europe. We can Trade without the need for Dictatorship from Brussels thank you.
